Wood in Design

Watch wood’s versatility in action

“Amber” is a design project started by two students at Emily Carr University of Art + Design that explores the emotional connections we have with wood and aims to express this in the form of furniture.

The inspiration for this project came from the transformation from a tree to finished furniture and the stories contained within this process.

Today there is a new wave of advanced technology and innovation in wood processing. Designers and architects are capable of expressing their creativity through wood in ways that were unimaginable before, developing taller buildings and longer spans with wood.
