This course will provide an overview of the key topics related to the embodied carbon of wood as it relates to low-carbon buildings. Topics include embodied carbon lifecycle of building material products; forest carbon cycle and responsible forest management; carbon sequestration; overview of various structural wood products; environmental product declarations (EPDs); calculation tools and methodologies; considerations when building with wood; carbon impact of building with wood; and related case studies.
Course participants will be better equipped to provide embodied carbon support to wood-based projects.
