Seminar: Seismic Performance of Light Wood Frame Shear Walls

Unveiling the insights into seismic performance of light wood frame shear walls

This seminar, featuring Dr. Lina Zhou, will unveil insights into lateral performance of light wood frame shear walls, their resistance and failure modes, and introduce the state-of-the-art research on development of high-capacity wood shear walls, jointly developed by the University of Victoria and FPInnovations for mid-rise wood-framed buildings located in high seismic zones

Dr, Lina Zhou is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Victoria. Dr. Zhou’s research is focused on development of fundamental knowledge on the performance of innovative wood structural systems and connections, and wood-based hybrid buildings. Her areas of strong expertise are related to investigation of seismic behavior of timber structures and hybrid building systems via both laboratory testing and numerical modelling analysis. Dr. Zhou has served on the Technical Subcommittees of System Design and Connections of CSA O86 Engineering Design in Wood since 2019
