Architects, Engineers, and Contractors have a vast number of BIM authoring tools. When our projects or processes stretch the limits of our BIM standard authoring applications (ie. Revit), what are our next steps? Should we be hiring software developers? Will software development be a core skill of future generations of architects and engineers? While we cannot say for certain what the future holds, we have decisions to make today. How do we decide when to script, when to develop, when to invest, when to hire, or when to buy?
We will evaluate these questions, the factors at play, and the thought process of these decisions being made by our clients.
