Project Overview

Completed in 1999, the project marked the beginning of a series of notable collaborations between Bing Thom Architects (now Revery Architecture) and Fast + Epp Structural Engineers, as well as the first project of StructureCraft, a design-build fabricator originally formed by Gerald Epp and Paul Fast that specializes in custom timber and wood-hybrid structures.

Wood Use

This turning-point project for wood-hybrid design features a geometrically complex 745-square-metre roof that combines parallel strand lumber with stainless steel components. The expressive and remarkably refined structure is made more prominent by the aquarium’s luminous footlight setting.
