Southcoast Reman Ltd., owned by Coal Island Ltd. and the Shields Family, is a leading independent custom lumber remanufacturer and dry kiln operator on the British Columbia Coast. The Shields Family also holds significant forest product assets, including Coastland Wood Industries Ltd., as well as a substantial commercial real estate portfolio in British Columbia (B.C.).
Founded in 1999 from Shields Forest Products and Byrne Reman, the company initially operated in Burnaby before evolving into Southcoast Millwork Ltd. In 2007, it relocated to a 13.6-acre Maple Ridge site, adding a modern kiln drying facility and upgrading operations. Incorporated into Coal Island Ltd. in 2011, it was rebranded as Southcoast Reman in 2014 and became a stand-alone business in 2020. Its growth and longevity reflect a strong legacy and commitment to quality in lumber remanufacturing.
