From our early beginnings over 50 years ago, Richmond Building Supplies has grown to become one of B.C.’s most respected building supply dealers.
It all began in 1966 when three local builders recognized a need for a quality building materials supplier to serve the needs of builders and developers in the fast-growing areas of Richmond—then mostly farmland—and south Vancouver.
The first office and yard operated out of an old house on Vulcan Way, located at the rear of the current complex on Bridgeport Road. Business quickly grew, and a door shop was added, followed by numerous expansions and extensions to the facilities, including a major renovation and expansion of the showroom in 2002, and major upgrades to our door plant and equipment soon thereafter.
Richmond Building Supplies (RBS) specializes in providing high-quality prehung doors for both exterior and interior applications. All exterior doors are fully tested and certified to meet NAFS compliance standards, ensuring durability and performance. With a wide selection of wood, metal, and fibreglass options, RBS offers doors to suit virtually any design or functional need. Every door is prehung in-house, guaranteeing a precise fit and superior finish.
Complementing their door offerings, RBS features an impressive range of locksets and door hardware in various styles and finishes—perfect for making a design statement that enhances any home. Additionally, for interior finish carpentry, RBS provides an extensive selection of trims and mouldings from Metrie and Taiga, including FJ pine, stain-grade wood, hemlock, ultra-light fibreboard, and flexible mouldings for unique applications.
Richmond Building Supplies now employs over 30 people, serving a large and loyal customer base of primarily custom single-family home builders, while also serving contractors who work on a range of projects from small renovations to large-scale, multi-family developments..
