Nicola LogWorks is a custom log home builder based in the Nicola Valley (Merritt, B.C.), dedicated to crafting log and timber structures to the highest standards since 1989. We take pride in helping clients and their design-build teams understand the unique characteristics of log joinery and the organic nature of wood. This knowledge saves both time and money during construction and ensures the finished project meets the quality our customers expect. For the best results, we like to be involved early in the design and planning stage—whether it’s a residential log or timber home or a commercial project featuring cross-laminated timbers (CLT) or glulam.
In 2017, we realized a long-held dream: making our handcrafted log homes more accessible without sacrificing the natural appeal of large logs or the precision of our traditional joinery. This became possible through a collaboration with Dusko Ballmer of Ballmer Systems Inc., who developed a proprietary robotic system and software that aligned perfectly with our vision of affordable, high-quality log homes.
Our robot-assisted, panelized modular construction method is a game changer. It allows for quick assembly on-site and is particularly well suited to remote or hard-to-access locations. The system supports scribed or chinked piece-en-piece joinery, post-and-beam construction, and even complex features like spiral stairs.
