About Kinsol Timber Systems Ltd.
Kinsol Timber Systems Ltd. specializes in working collaboratively with architects, engineers, and general contractors to deliver carefully detailed, impressive, constructible, and ambitious structures.
Based on Vancouver Island and with access to Canada’s best timber, our shop and site crews are broadly experienced in planning, fabricating, and erecting timber structures in some of the most challenging conditions.
Our team has a breadth of experience spanning all aspects of timber work—from mass timber structures and architectural beam work to traditional joinery, commercial buildings, and institutional projects across multiple sectors. We have also won numerous Canadian and international awards for our work. We specialize in working with clients to deliver projects within agreed timelines and budgets. No single person or firm can provide all the answers all the time: we understand that our best work is achieved through cooperation with, and support of, a larger team.
As specialist builders of challenging and complex structures, Kinsol has developed a methodology for optimizing structure, digitally pre-planning our work, and streamlining material procurement – all resulting in an efficient installation on site. We develop structural concepts in collaboration with the design team and client, provide rendered images and sketches defining the scope of the design-build work for the structure, and offer a fixed price for our scope of work. We use our 3D modelers and often apply collaboratively written algorithms to expedite design time.
Kinsol typically works on three or four projects concurrently; project scopes and values range considerably, from modest additions to complex multi-year projects that include a full range of design, engineering, and construction management services. We have a portfolio that demonstrates competence in new construction, timber engineering, and the conservation of historic timber buildings. Increasingly, Kinsol has been called upon to answer design-and-build opportunities where challenging logistics and complex locations are important considerations.
