About Canada’s Log People
Welcome to Canada’s Log People! Handcrafting log homes for over 45 years. Canada’s Log People stand at the forefront of building handcrafted log and timber homes. Theo Wiering founded “The Log People” in 1978 in his early twenties and slowly grew the business into an international company with sales around the world—starting with Germany in 1983, the United States in 1984, then Japan, and many other countries. Theo retired in 2022, and a new owner with decades of log home business experience has taken over, maintaining the same skilled craftsmen and staff as before, and with the same dedication to building the finest log buildings possible. Over 1,500 log buildings have been shipped worldwide!
Our handcrafted log and timber homes are built primarily with Douglas-fir and Engelmann spruce. Western red cedar and yellow cedar are also available for select features. The logs we use are an average of 12 to 16 inches (or larger) in mean diameter, and the tight-grained timber is between 80 and 400 years old.
We put a high priority on sustainable forestry; Canada’s Log People harvest timber from designated forestry areas in British Columbia, which are then replanted with five saplings for every harvested tree. We put back what nature gave us. As a further measure of quality, over 95 percent of our timber meets the highest premium/select grade standard of the Timber Products Inspection grading agency.
To help put your ideas on paper, our drafting & design team has over 60 years of combined experience using the latest computer software.
Our mission statement is “Built with Quality and Pride.” A handcrafted log or timber home is solid, warm, and comfortable, and will be a source of pride and satisfaction for many years to come. Let us or one of our professional representatives make your dream home a reality. We thank you for your interest.
