As part of National Forest Week, B.C.’s forest heritage and the integral role that sustainable forests play in our economy, culture, traditions and history are being celebrated.
By meeting the environmental, social and economic needs of current and future generations, B.C. is recognized as a global leader in sustainable forest management. About 95% of B.C.’s forests are publicly owned and a fraction of 1% of the forested land is harvested each year—land that is promptly reforested with native species. Sustainable resource management ensures that our forests continue to be a source of jobs and green building products now and in the future.
