Podcast interview on carbon reduction and retrofits

Listen to the Construction Record’s Warren Frey speaking with Fin MacDonald, manager, Zero Carbon Building Program at the Canadian Green Building Council (external link) (CAGBC) about zero carbon in buildings. As new buildings are becoming more energy-efficient, attention is shifting to the embodied carbon—the carbon dioxide and other GHGs emitted during material manufacturing and construction. Wood and mass timber construction have low embodied carbon because the manufacturing process is not energy-intensive and relies predominantly on electricity.

Recently, CAGBC developed a white paper to provide readers with an understanding of embodied carbon in the built environment — Embodied carbon: A primer for buildings in Canada.
