Surrey Pretrial Services Centre

The Surrey Pretrial Services Centre is the centerpiece in the first phase of the British Columbia’s capital plan to address capacity issues by expanding correctional facilities. When the expansion to the Centre opened in 2013, the entire Centre became the largest correctional facility in British Columbia, with 365 cells. The expansion was designed to create a better working environment for staff and a better standard of living for inmates, with ample natural light, and better indoor air quality.

Surrey Memorial Hospital Emergency Department And Critical Care Tower

Visiting a hospital can be a stressful experience, so when the British Columbia Ministry of Health was designing the Surrey Memorial Hospital expansion, the architects were asked to come up with a warm, natural facility that would also meet rigorous building performance demands. To achieve these ends, the design used wood in structural and decorative components. The lobby features exposed wood and provides a sense of calm for all in a stressful environment.

Grandview Heights Aquatic Centre

Located at the centre of the fastest growing community within B.C.’s fastest growing municipality, this new facility is designed to accommodate both international swim meets and a wide variety of water-related community activities. The aquatic centre, with its dramatic suspended roof form, is the first project to be completed on the ‘super block’ that is destined to become a regional campus of health, wellness and sports excellence.

Cloverdale Recreation Centre

The Cloverdale Recreation Centre was the first public facility developed under the City of Surrey's master plan for the Cloverdale Fairgrounds. The design process followed the City of Surrey's Sustainable Design Charter, but was also used by the architects as a pilot project to evaluate this alternate green building rating system. The architect's challenge was to develop a design character that would set the precedent for the entire area as the neighbourhood evolves.
