Trembling Aspen

Trembling aspen (Populus tremuloides) – grouped with balsam poplar – makes up approximately 3 to 4% of British Columbia’s forests.
Aspen is the species most commonly used in oriented strand board (OSB), and is suitable for producing high-quality laminated veneer Lumber (LVL) used as headers, joists, beams and planks.
While aspen is currently sawn into studs for construction lumber under National Lumber Grades Authority (NLGA) rules, there is greater interest in producing it for millwork.
